Filomena runs Foster + Partners Brazil office, having completed the practice's first building in Rio. She joined Foster + Partners in 1995 after studying in Brazil and the UK. Filomena is a registered Architect in both Brazil and the UK and in 2003 gained a Masters Degree in Environmental Design from the University of Cambridge. Her first London projects were the Great Court at the British Museum and Asprey, followed by a number of mixed-use projects in Kazakhstan, Spain, Turkey, India. She is fluent in Portuguese, English, Spanish and has lectured widely on sustainable architecture.
