Foster 525, Walter Knoll

Norman Foster and Walter Knoll first started working together when it came to furnishing the Reichstag Building in Berlin. Since then, the Foster 500 line, specially created for Walter Knoll, has become a symbol of the synthesis of architecture and furnishing. The Foster 525 dining chair stands on two thin upholstered blades extending upwards to become the armrests, which then wrap around the seat to form the backrest. Akin to a moulded monocoque of an airplane – in this case in leather – each element fits together in a perfect relationship characterised by precision.
