Three projects recognised with awards

Two projects have been given RIBA EU Awards, it has been announced today – the Lenbachhaus Museum in Munich, Germany and the redevelopment of the Vieux Port in Marseille, France. The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland was also presented with the RIAS Award (Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland) at a ceremony last night.

The RIBA jury described the Lenbachhaus as “a beautifully conceived and executed project that has integrated new and old, both internally and externally, with consummate ease and elegance, without compromising either.” Summing up the redevelopment of Marseille’s Vieux Port, the jury felt that the combination of masterplan and new constructions “successfully reinforce the Vieux Port’s civic qualities and enhance its tourist appeal while safeguarding its economically vital function as a marina and boat yard.”
