Conceived as a showcase for Monaco Yacht Week, the Outlier I yacht concept redefines the boundaries of megayacht design, naval engineering, and guest experience. It offers a new paradigm that combines Lateral’s expertise in innovative naval engineering and Foster + Partners’ integrated approach to design.
Marilu Sicoli, Senior Partner, Foster + Partners, said: “The Outlier I yacht is an 88-metre megayacht with features that are typically found on a 100-metre plus gigayacht. Notably, it offers approximately 40 percent more deck space than standard yachts in its category, making it a standout in its class.”
Adam Newburn, Senior Partner, Foster + Partners, added: “The design concept also allows for greater interior flexibility, enabling double or triple-height spaces and extremely generous living areas that are naturally lit. We are pushing the boundaries of yacht design, reimagining guest spaces and adjacencies to offer a completely new way of living on the water.”
The 2000 GT signifies a ’sweet spot’ in the megayacht market – an ideal size of craft that allows for ease of mooring while integrating key desirable components such as a swimming pool, helipad and a private top deck. Lateral’s latest technical platform sees the relocation of the engine room towards the bow – a bold departure from traditional yacht layouts of this size. This move allows the vessel’s internal architecture to be fundamentally reinvented in design terms. It frees up valuable space in the middle and aft sections of the yacht, traditionally occupied by machinery and enables entirely new spatial arrangements throughout the rest of the yacht, bringing guests closer to the water.
The new innovative concept enables better spatial connectivity – both vertically and horizontally – enhancing interactions between guests and crew and reimagining their accommodation for greater comfort and privacy. It unlocks the potential for spacious, expansive interior spaces as well as unobstructed exterior decks towards the aft, ideal for lounging or entertainment spaces. The yacht also features a dedicated tank deck service spine through the full length of the vessel and a larger tender bay for a wider range of tenders.
Building on Foster + Partners’ heritage of nautical design, the concept also allows for creative, owner-driven customisation, whether for private retreats or social gatherings. Outlier I’s flexible platform supports a wide range of uses, from luxury cruising to adventurous exploration in unspoiled locations.
