The Scottish Gas Headquarters, Edinburgh, and 1 More London Place, London, have both won top honours at the prestigious British Council for Offices (BCO) Awards ceremony. The BCO is the United Kingdoms leading authority on the development, funding, design, construction, and operation of all types of buildings. The awards they confer are a public recognition of architectural excellence.
Scottish Gas HQ was a regional winner for Scotland and also won the National Award in the Commercial Workplace category. In their award citation, the judges said, "The site alone is spectacular. Foster and Partners have made sure not to compromise that quality, producing something at the same time clever, dramatic and delicate." 1 More London Place was the winner in the Commercial Workplace category for the London region. The judges commented that the "Treatment of this sensitive location is the development's best quality".
The Thirteenth annual BCO Awards were presented at a gala dinner held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London's Park Lane.
