McLaren Technology Centre

Integrating low-energy MEP systems for hot water and heating, cooling, ventilation and lighting, and improving the efficiency of control systems.

UK
1998 - 2004

Providing design studios, laboratories and testing facilities for Formula 1 cars, the McLaren Technology Centre was similarly designed to perform like a racing car – the most effective, energy systems were specified, along with extensive BMS and sub-metering to monitor and control the building. Chilled beams and diffuse skylights help create a low-energy office environment. A large lake helps to remove waste heat from the building, in particular the heat generated by the wind tunnel, and a reed bed is incorporated to treat grey water.
