The interior concept for Hearst Corporation’s headquarters tower helps to promote a sense of community through shared social spaces and a common language of materials, while reflecting the special character of each division. Hearst’s publishing activities span newspapers, broadcasting, magazines and digital media, with an equally varied list of titles, covering everything from high fashion to car mechanics. The interior planning of each magazine floor is therefore based on an adaptable template, comprising an open-plan central space bordered by cellular offices, which creates a natural separation between editorial and publishing activities. The different titles are differentiated by a broad range of interior palettes, while elements common to each floor include a modular desk system, specially designed for the building, and lift lobbies clad in wine-coloured glass panels.
