The practice’s support for academic study includes the annual AA Foster + Partners Prize and the RIBA Norman Foster Travelling Scholarship. The latter offers a travel grant of £6,000 to a student of architecture to support a period of international study. Suggested topics include: learning from the past to inform the future; urban density; sustainability; the use of resources; the quality of urban life; and transport.
Proposals are judged by a panel chaired by Norman Foster and the President of the RIBA. Past scholars have travelled through the Americas, Africa, South East Asia, the Middle and Far East and Russia.
The 2013 RIBA Norman Foster Travelling Scholarship is now accepting entries. To watch films by past recipients and to find out how to apply, please see: www.architecture.com/fosterscholarship
