Foster + Partners has further strengthened its in-house capabilities by hiring Lee Hallman, previously Head of Design at Candy & Candy, and two of his former Design Directors, to lead the practice’s Interiors Group. Interior design is integral to our architecture - every detail is carefully designed, and involves the same process of questioning and refinement.
Lee Hallman has more than 20 years of wide-ranging experience, including six years with Candy & Candy, where he led a range of high-end residential and hospitality commissions. This move marks his return to Foster + Partners - he was previously a partner with the practice, and worked for fourteen years on a broad range of projects, from the McLaren Technology Centre to Jameson House mixed-use tower in Vancouver. The Interiors Group is further enhanced by Maria Mallalieu and Constance Staib, who join the office as associate partners.
While interior design has always been a vital part of the design process, the practice has more recently developed a dedicated Interiors Group. The specialist group works closely with the architects and the in-house disciplines of industrial design, workplace consultancy and materials research to bring wide-ranging expertise to every project. The practice’s interiors range from private houses to office towers, from art galleries to industrial buildings, and from yachts to a fleet of executive jets.
Mouzhan Majidi, Chief Executive:
"We are pleased to welcome Lee back to the practice - this important step will enhance the service we can offer our clients. Interior design has always been a vital aspect of our work, as we do not make a distinction between the interior and exterior experience - every detail is considered. Lee was the perfect choice to lead the Interiors Group. Having previously been a senior member of the team, not only does he have strong relationships and a great understanding of our integrated approach to design, but he has also worked directly for clients. Leading design and delivering high-end interiors for the past six years has given him a valuable insight into our clients’ needs and aspirations."
Lee Hallman, Head of Interiors:
"This is a fantastic opportunity to return to Foster + Partners with the benefit of experience working for clients at the highest level. Over the past six years I have enjoyed working on some of the world’s most luxurious residential developments and projects for private clients. I am now looking forward to integrating my experience into the Interiors Group, and contributing to the creative process for an exciting range of international projects."
