Luke Fox studied Architecture at the University of Sydney and after graduating, he worked in New York with Kohn Pederson and Fox where he became a member of the American Institute of Architects (New York Chapter).
He joined Foster + Partners in 1998 and initially worked on the HSBC Headquarters at Canary Wharf. He was made an associate on the Tower Place project in London, for which he ran the site office through to the completion of the building. The scheme comprises two six-storey buildings providing 42,000 square metres of office space linked with one of the largest glass atria in Europe.
He moved to Beijing for the design and construction of the new terminal for the Beijing Capital International Airport and he was made a project director in 2003. On returning to London he worked on the highest proposed tower in Europe – Russia Tower – a 600m mixed use vertical community in Moscow, combining shops, apartments and offices. Based on a highly efficient geometry derived from a triangular plan, the tower was conceived as the highest naturally ventilated tower in the world.
He was made a partner in 2006 and worked on a number of other Russian projects including Crystal Island, a large mixed use project on the Moscow River and the Pushkin Museum Extension which is a regeneration of one of the world's great cultural institutions. Promoted to senior partner in 2009, he currently works alongside Andy Bow as joint deputy group leader of Group 3, led by the company’s CEO, Mouzhan Majidi, and managing a team of more than 150 designers in London, Beijing and Hong Kong on a wide range of international projects. These include the Haramain High Speed Rail project in Saudi Arabia, a large residential development in Morocco and a number of significant projects in Lebanon, Kuala Lumpur and China.
