Lord Foster launches ‘Amazing Spaces’ drawing workshop On Sunday 24th of September Quentin Blake and a team of architects, artists, designers, cartoonists and illustrators will lead a series of workshops to explore and draw around the extraordinary architecture and spaces at Somerset House and King's College London.
The all-day free drop-in activities and workshops include 'Amazing Spaces' introduced by Lord Foster with a short talk on the importance of drawing in architecture. This will be followed by a three hour workshop led by Foster and Partners’ Partner Narinder Sagoo and attended by sixty to seventy members of the public along the riverbank and on Waterloo Bridge. Part observation and part an imaginative exercise, the participants will be encouraged to first draw what they see from life and then to depict what would like to see, in fifty years time.
The events mark the start of the 'Big Draw' – an annual celebration of drawing and architecture for all ages.
“Amazing Spaces” takes at Somerset House, The Strand, London Sunday 24 September, 10.30am - 5pm Big Draw National Launch 2006 Campaign website: www.drawingpower.org.uk Big Draw events:www.thebigdraw.org.uk
