Blair, Beckham and Sven celebrate the Wembley Way

Tonight, the Prime Minister Tony Blair, England Coach Sven Goran Eriksson and England Captain David Beckham will be the special guests at an event to celebrate progress at the new Wembley Stadium and to kick-off of Englands 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign.

With the stadium on course to stage The 2006 FA Cup Final as its first scheduled match, the event will take place on the Wembley Way, beneath the stunning 133 metre-high Wembley Arch, which was successfully raised this summer and has already become a major new national landmark.

Hosted by Ray Stubbs, the event will also feature WNSL Chief Executive Michael Cunnah, Multiplex UKs Managing Director Noel Henderson and one of the projects lead architects, Rod Sheard.

The Arch will be illuminated specially for the occasion, and the ceremony will close with a brief firework display triggered by the Prime Minister and David Beckham.

With the England Team flying to Austria tomorrow for a crucial qualifier, the England Teams road back to Wembley starts tonight.

WNSL Chief Executive, Michael Cunnah said:This Milestone ceremony is a great way to show the amazing progress that has been made and to thank all of those people who have been involved in the project thus far. Its incredible to think that only a few England home internationals remain until the England Team return to Wembley.

Wembley is also a major part of Britains 2012 Olympic Bid and this is the perfect opportunity to show our support, following the tremendous performance of Team GB in Athens.
